Various - Encyclopaedia of industrial music volume II

The second volume of Encyclopaedia of Industrial music lies opened before me and the disc (this time only one) that came together with a book spins in the player. The thing that cheers me up most while having this book in my hands is to remember one Lithuanian guy who is constantly begging everyone for their albums to review them in the mystic book of Lithuanian industrial music, which, most likely, will stay in his fantasies. It cheers me up because of huge contrast - when I hold this clearly and nicely designed, and published 100 pages book with so much interesting information, I do understand that one person, if he wishes, can do much. This volume is similar to the first one in everything. Not only purists of true industrial music finds place in it, but also arts, involved in development of industrial music in one or another way, bands that could be associated with industrial movement just conditionally etc. I think author understands that it is not possible to compile the absolute and whole encyclopaedia and thus he does not try to accomplish the impossible, but presents the essential elements of movement, scene and so on. It is such a book that I usually take when going to smoke or while having a rest for a couple of minutes at home - open a random page and still find new name or face, musician with unknown facts from biography, albums that you haven't heard, names of people that were or are interesting in one way or another and deserved their honorable place in this encyclopaedia. People, acts and other activities between D and J letters are presented in this volume. Title or name, photos, short comments, not necessarily biographic, but usually rather interesting, describing the essence, and discography. Without unnecessary belles-lettres, even without a preface, this book is a selection of information that is truly worth attention. Maybe not the most necessary thing, though, I guess, requiring most work, in this book are discographies of musicians. They take a lot of space and it would be better if instead of whole discographies, substantial releases would be mentioned. Let it be subjective ones. And more place would be dedicated to some facts about their music, art or other areas of actions. It was the only questionable moment in this book. Otherwise this is truly a valuable source of information and reading material for your free time. The disc with tracks from 14 musicians, included in this encyclopaedia is added to the book. Truly great and recommended material.
