Shiver - Born to Lose

I've got this minidisc quite some time ago and it was just lying on the shelf while I finally managed to get to it. Shiver - noise/power electronics project from Italy. It was started recently (2010) and in its discography it has 4 albums that were released in extremely limited quantities. 3 tracks with playing time of almost 20 minutes are in this minidisc. A rather massive record, though in the description it was characterized as bleak and raw. Disc starts from "The House of Others". Thin line of feedback with interferences that finally evolves into monolithic noise. All tracks vary very little. Mainly they consist of static wall of noise with manipulated additional sounds, samples or vocals above it. After explosion of noise, expressive distant vocal is heard, which spices up the front line of pulsating noises. The second track "There Was Blood Everywhere" sounds better than the first one. Starting with long and almost invisibly changing synth lines and distant delayed metal clanging. This song evolves very slowly, expanding with samples and gets right into very nice atmosphere - dark, hopeless and killing in slow, routine sounds. Song ends in rather weird manner - as if it would be suddenly interrupted. The following is the one that I liked best in the album - "Poison the Spring". Nothing too innovative and special, but this is an excellent example of depressive power electronics. The track starts with tightly layered sounds and rather thick, but clear sound. Finally the feedback and effected voice is heard in the distance and it seems that Mauro Sciaccaluga tries to shout his entrails out. Ghostly, dark atmosphere, formed by several different sound layers, starting from monotonic pulsation of synth, feedback, voice and ending in thick wall of noise. The track catches attention and keeps it easily. The disc is closed perfectly. Minirelease is packed in small DVD box with inserts where track titles and other information is listed. Disc is released in Diazepam label, which is owned by the Shiver himself. I cannot say that it's superb work, but I liked it.
